The Severance Document, The Forsaken Woman, and The Legal Fiction of Innocence

| 5:31 | עוֹד אָמַר יֵשׁ״וּ לְתַלְמִידָיו שְׁמַעְתֶּם מַה שֶּׁנֶּאֱמַר לַקַּדְמוֹנִים שֶׁכָּל הַעוֹזֵב אִשְׁתּוֹ וְשִׁלַּח לָתֵת לָהּ גֵּט כְּרִיתוּת וּבְלַעַזּוֹ לִיבֵי״ל רִיפוּדִיי״ו׃ | Again Yeshu said to his disciples: You have heard what was said to the ancients, that everyone who abandons his woman and sends to give to her a document of severance—and in a foreign tongue: libel repudio— |
| 5:32 | וַאֲנִי אוֹמֵר לָכֶם שֶׁכָּל הַעוֹזֵב אִשְׁתּוֹ יֵשׁ לוֹ לָתֵת לָהּ גֵּט כְּרִיתוּת כִּי אִם עַל דְּבַר נִאוּף הוּא הַנּוֹאֵף וְהַלּוֹקֵחַ אוֹתָהּ יִנְאָף׃ | But I say to you that everyone who abandons his woman—it is incumbent upon him to give to her a document of severance—except concerning a matter of adultery: he is the adulterer, and the one taking her commits adultery. |

The Eden Trial & The Shepherd's Treason
In Section 017, Yeshu confronted the receptive soul—the woman (ishah)—being seduced by an outside adviser (the "right eye" / the Serpent). That verse replayed Genesis 3:13, where Elohim first asked the woman: "What is this you have done?" and she confessed: "The serpent enticed me [hishiani]."
In Section 018, God turns directly to Adam (Genesis 3:17). When Adam fell, his immediate response was covenant betrayal: "The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat" (Genesis 3:12). Instead of covering, nourishing, and dying for the bone of his bone, Adam pointed the finger and abandoned his woman to the curse to save his own skin!
[In simple terms: Section 017 dealt with the outside seducer whispering in your ear to covet. Section 018 deals with the man copying Adam: using legal excuses to throw his woman out the door and blame her for his own selfish desires.]
The Shepherd and the Flock: Throughout the prophets, the covenant bond between the shepherd and the flock is identical to the bond between the man and his woman. The man is called to cover, pasture, and protect the receptive soul entrusted to him. When a man unilaterally abandons his woman, he acts as the treacherous hireling indicted in Zechariah 11:17: "Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock [עֹזְבִי הַצֹּאן, ozvi ha-tson]!" The hireling pushes the sheep out into the wilderness and hands her an institutional certificate, as if an eviction receipt clears him of the wolves tearing her to pieces.
Sinai & Spiritual Impregnation: At Mount Sinai, before God descended in fire, Moses commanded: "Come not at a woman" (Exodus 19:15). The soul is the receptive ishah that must be unseeded by human flesh so it can receive the pure seed of the Word. When false religious teachers become your "eyes and hands," they impregnate you with human doctrines. The result is the cold, bureaucratic cruelty of Section 018: men using institutional divorce documents (libel repudio) to wash their hands of covenant faithfulness.
Maryam Was Not a "Wife": In Shem-Tob Matthew 1, Miryam is never called Joseph's "wife" by a civil court. He is simply יוֹסֵף אִישׁ מִרְיָם ("Joseph, man of Miryam"), and she is אִשְׁתְּךָ ("your woman"). Though only betrothed, Heaven viewed them as bound. Joseph proved himself a righteous man because he refused to abandon his woman to public shame or death.
Man in the Image of God, Woman in the Image of Man
-
The Crime of Desertion (עוֹזֵב - Ozev): The Hebrew does not use a technical civil word for divorce; it uses הַעוֹזֵב ("the one who abandons / leaves desolate"). This is the exact word used for a man forsaking his covenant companion (Isaiah 54:6) and the unfaithful shepherd deserting the sheep (Zechariah 11:17).
[In simple terms: God does not judge based on your court paperwork; He judges whether you broke faith and abandoned the human being who depended on you.] - Bone of My Bone (Genesis 2:23): The woman was taken out of the man's rib. She is the physical manifestation of his body. For a man to cast off his woman is to mutilate his own flesh, just as cutting off a corrupted hand (MT 5:30) disarms the flesh.
-
The Corruption of Man-Made Marriage Systems: Scripture reveals a profound, holy order: man is created directly in the image and likeness of God, and woman is created out of man to be his reflection, glory, and bodily companion. Man-made civil and religious institutions have thoroughly mixed up this divine revelation by reducing pure covenant attachments to government-issued certificates, state licenses, and legalistic contracts. These artificial systems invent categories of "wives" and "divorcées" based on bureaucratic stamps rather than holiness of heart.
[In simple terms: Readers must tread very carefully when studying Scripture. Once you realize that worldly institutions have corrupted what holy covenant relationships actually are, you see that a secular or religious paper can never validate betrayal or manufacture righteousness before God.]
